Changes

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I’m back to Kuching for Hari Raya for three weeks. As usual, I like to sum up what I have learned during my life in UKM.

It started horribly, as you can read from my previous blog entry. I think we are all depressed due to the changes. But then, as human, we soon cope and live the best we can. Not all I guess. Some still struggling, some just accept the changes.

So what have I learned? I bought a bike with Lydia in UKM and that has bring all the changes. It gives me the freedom to go wherever I want and whenever I want. I remember I once felt quite down but a ride with my bike solved it all. I enjoy the breeze blowing at my face and the speed that I bring my bike at. Especially when I speed up, I focus my whole attention to my driving that the rest of my problems seem far away. Ah, the joy of driving a bike.

Of course, we have Geng 11 malam. Though I lost some weight when I first arrive UKM, I have now gained all and more back. :-( Thanks to the late supper we always have at the mamak stall. But this geng has also helped me release a lot of my pile up stress especially the last few weeks when assignments were mountain high pile.

Oh, we went to lots of places. Not so many, but it’s still overwhelming to me. When I feel like going Metro Kajang, I do not have to wait on the unreliable UKM and RapidKL busses that are always late. I have my bike. Every saturday, we catholics drive bikes to church. And I am feeling pretty comfortable with my life in UKM now.

Oh, I have a nice and sweet roommate in Ungku Omar college. As always, I believe that it is God’s wonderful ways of showing how He love me so much by giving my gifts along my way.

And a door closes to me in these months when I’m in UKM. However, another door that has always been open to be, now opens wider. I never ventured deep inside, but now that I do, I’ll always treasure the memories I shared with them. And oh, I still hope the closed door will be opened one day. For now, I’m contented with the newly-discovered-yet-has-been-there-all-this-while door.

New places, new discoveries, new memories and new friends. Along the way, I change appropriately to fit in. I do miss UKM a bit..not the place, but the memories and the fun I had and continue will have there.

I’m having tonsil infection now. Very painful to eat and talk. Hence, the sudden desire to blog after such a long time. Hope I get heal soon.

God bless you all.
